# Should researchers use proxies or an API for Scholar data?

Use the [SERP API Google Scholar docs](https://doc.thordata.com/doc/scraping/serp-api/query-parameters/google/google-scholar). It fits public paper search, patent filters, and case-law queries; it is not for bypassing journal paywalls or downloading restricted full text.
